Electric Supercharger

Electric superchargers were just recently introduced a few years ago into the automotive market. They primarily operate off of the vehicles stock battery configuration which powers a small motorized fan which pushes a greater air mixture through the intake and into the engine.

Until fairly recently most electric supercharger kits (especially those found on ebay) were looked at as useless and often were known to detract performance more than they could increase it. Some advancements have however taken place and companies such as Boosthead.com are now producing versions that can give performance gains similar to traditional supercharger setups. One thing you need to keep in mind is that unlike traditional superchargers, electric superchargers cannot easily operate for long periods of time. They are best used in short bursts of 15 seconds or less to avoid excessive consumption from the vehicles electrical system.
